This section presents the detailed information about the project.
Harem Son Saat « The last hours of the Harem » is a Larp for 26 players, language neutral in English and French.
It is a larp about balance of power, objectification of desire and culture shock in the Harem tradition of the Ottoman Empire, in the year preceding World War I.
In this game, players will embody representatives of the high society integrated or confronted to the Harem culture, and play the way this experience is going to influence their crossed destinies.
This game belongs to the tradition of the historically-inspired Romanesque games, with the added influence of Nordic-style techniques. The game is designed as narrativist, with the priority being given to the collective creation of a story in keeping with chosen themes and period. The game however will tend towards a realistic scenography and real time action, and light, non-intrusive meta-techniques.
The immersion will work through detailed characters with an in-depth treatment of their backstory. Characters share a common past and many interactions, and these relations are central to the experience, with the objective of giving an emotional and deep experience, as well as a reflection on gender and power issues.
Runs 1 to 4 took place in France in 2016 and 2017. Runs 5 and 6 took place in Czech Republic in 2018 with Rolling.
